Most people get started in the network marketing industry with the thoughts of making a lot of money and retiring from their full time jobs and careers. Once you have been in long enough you realize that most people will never realize those results. So what failed them – why did they not achieve the results they thought would come?

There could be a number of reasons that they have failed. They will probably blame it on their upline, the system, the company, or even the product. One constant will remain; however, they will never blame themselves.

Your own actions are the number one reason of failure. To get started on the right path you need to figure exactly why you want to build a network marketing business. Most people will plan all of these big goals on how much they will earn and how soon they will get there and then wrap your personal life around those results. In The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy, he states that you need to actually plan your personal goals first and then adjust your business goals around your desired personal destination.

By establishing your personal goals first you have a great idea of when you have fully satisfied your desired results. If you have nothing to be striving for in your business you will not succeed. Those goals you set must also be a driving force for you. They need to so big that you will do everything possible in order to achieve your desired results.

In horse racing, they will place what is called “blinkers” onto the face of the horse. This will be a cup which covers the eyes around the back and side. The purpose of this is so that the horse will not face any distractions such as the crowd and will be able to focus solely on their destination which is the finish line.

Whatever goals you have set for yourself must be so big that you are willing to put blinkers and focus on achieving the results you want without any distractions and no turning back. You cannot be susceptible to anything that will distract you and cause you to slow down your pace thus losing the race.

So what are your personal goals? Are they big enough where you will put everything else aside to focus on results you need in your business or when the race becomes tough will you allow any little distraction to slow you down? I want to challenge you to make sure your goals are big enough that you put on the blinkers and focus solely on what matters – your goals and the results needed.
